Welcome to Rebirth Midwifery!
During my first year in midwifery school, I discovered that my grandmother was an herbalist and midwife in her village in Koalack, Senegal. This revelation affirmed the belief that midwifery is truly a calling—a sentiment I wholeheartedly embrace.
My journey began in high school, sparked by curiosity about the mystical properties of plants, particularly marijuana. Fascinated by its effects, I wondered if all plants possessed similar powers. While practicality led me to pursue nursing at Temple University, I quickly realized that the traditional nursing path wasn't for me. However, it was during this time that I developed a deep interest in women’s health.
Seeking a more meaningful path, I pursued herbal medicine at Sky House Yoga and became a community herbalist. This led me to Wild Ginger Herbal Center in Costa Rica, where I completed an herbal apprenticeship and later assisted in running their jungle lodging. It was there that I took a doula course with Nilijah Brown, a life-changing experience that ignited my passion for midwifery.
Returning to Washington, D.C., I connected with Momease, where I gained hands-on experience attending births, witnessing the realities of birth work beyond the classroom. The profound dedication I observed in seasoned practitioners inspired me to become a midwife who empowers clients to birth on their own terms, safely and confidently.
In 2019, I enrolled at Midwives College of Utah to pursue my Bachelor’s of Science in Midwifery. I trained with diverse preceptors, each offering unique perspectives on birth. From BirthCare & Women’s Health in Alexandria, VA, to Melissa Carman in upstate PA, and Samantha Magpiong in Philadelphia, PA, I refined my skills and developed a holistic approach to midwifery.
In 2024, I passed the NARM exam, becoming a certified professional midwife, able to assist homes in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. Now, I am honored to serve families, providing them with the opportunity for safe, empowering home births.
